PLANT DYING ー BABUL BARK

The Babul tree, which you may have seen extracts of in food and medicine as ‘gum arabic’. Almost every part of the tree is used, from the roots, to seeds, leaves and even the twigs. The bark of the tree (which, boiled like a tea gives our cottons a peachy tone) has traditionally also been used to treat skin and eye irritation. The Clay Shirt is dyed using Babul Bark.

W.I.P ー THE CONCHOLOGIST EARRINGS

Silver hoop earrings with shell, sculpted from a shell we collected from a beach from one of Japan’s islands, Niijima. These earrings are made in collaboration with Tokyo based artist, Rotate, where a collaborative effort has been made through inventive approaches to age-old techniques. The earrings are sold as a pair and are made-to-order, each pair comes in a padded protective case made from our handwoven cotton waste. The lead time for our silver jewellery is 2-4 weeks. Handmade in Japan. Shop the conchologist earrings here.
